Cumberland County (maps) is in the middle of a surge in growth. With an area of 684.95 square miles, the population density is currently 68.7 per sq. mile and headed upward rapidly. What an opportunity to share the love of God!

Census figures are not readily available for the earliest years of the area because the county was formed only in 1856. It is estimated that the area had 400 settlers in 1830.

In 1860 the census reported that Cumberland County had:

"3,382 free inhabitants, 9 foreign birth, 18 negros.
Two were blind, 6 insane, 6 “idiots”, one pauper, no convicts."
